Director's Update - April

Dear families,

As we welcome the season of Spring, I am filled with gratitude for all that is unfolding across our Catholic learning communities. Spring is a reminder that, with care and faith, great growth is possible.

Each day, I continue to be inspired by the joy, creativity, and compassion I see in our classrooms, hallways, and school communities.

Earlier this month, I had the privilege of joining the Rosary Club at St. John XXIII Catholic School in Kingston. This group of Grade 1-8 students come together to offer intentions for school staff and the greater community each week when they pray the rosary. These students are truly putting their faith into action.

I would like to highlight the amazing plays that are taking place right now throughout the system, elementary and secondary. The time and dedication by staff, students and community partners to culminate in such amazing productions is outstanding. Most importantly, many students—sometimes hundreds—can be involved, whether onstage or behind the scenes, with some schools featuring performers as young as Grade 2.

Next week, I look forward to Catholic Education Week Mass, where students and staff from across our system will gather in prayer and celebration. Catholic Education Week also offers an opportunity to recognize the dedicated students, staff, and volunteers who have been nominated by our school communities for their service and commitment to Catholic education.

Thank you for the many ways you support Catholic education. May this Spring season bring renewed hope and peace to your family, and continued joy and growth in our school communities.

Sincerely,

Carey Smith-Dewey Director of Education
