150 students from St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School, Nicolson Catholic College, and St. Paul Catholic Secondary School participated in Bay of Quinte Tech & Trades Days at the Quinte Wellness Centre this week.
Activities included:
- Industry tours of local manufacturing powerhouses Schütz Canada and Quest-Tech
- Behind-the-scenes operations tour of the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre
- Hands-on engagement with Spark Power, a leading local industrial electrical contractor
- Interactive activities with two Skills Ontario Trades & Tech Trucks, offering students immersive, try-a-trade experiences.
The Skills Ontario Trades & Tech Trucks feature a range of activities designed to introduce students to diverse career possibilities. Participants can try their hand at heavy machinery operation using simulators and VR (virtual reality), automotive electrical, hairstyling, cake decorating and more.
The event, promoting careers in the skilled trades, was initiated by a partnership between the City of Belleville, Centre for Workforce Development, Bay of Quinte Economic Development and Trenval, with support the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program and Skills Ontario.
